At Lykos we believe coaching is key.   Our certified coaches are here to support, educate, and make you feel comfortable in our classes.  We believe it is important our coaches are passionate about CrossFit, human movement and coaching.  You will find our coaches WODing with class when they have a night off, working towards their own PR’s and bettering themselves to better our members.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.
One of my goals growing up was to own a gym , fast forward a “few” years and here we are.  I love my wife, my kids and CrossFit.  Outside of the gym I enjoy everything hunting and fishing.
HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

It is simply the best way to get in shape, however I think it is much more than that.  I think most CrossFitters (including myself) truly enjoy and are passionate about it.  The CrossFit community is a powerful thing, I have met some of my best friends inside a CrossFit gym.    CrossFit is fun, it’s as simple as that & I love doing it.  Some people  read, some people paint, I CrossFit.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

The ones you don’t plan on doing, just getting together with friends and tossing movements together and go to town.  Favorite lift has got to be back squat or clean.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

Is to grow and foster a place that members want to come hang out.  Not because it’s their gym, but because they love the other members and the atmosphere.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

I’ve always loved being a coach.  A decade ago as a personal trainer, I thought I knew it all..  Fast forward and today my life has literally been changed by CrossFit. I found a place that I love, where I belong, friends I care about, and a passion to be proud of.  When I’m not at Lykos, I’m probably home with my amazing wife and 3 dogs or playing guitar.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

It’s a healthy obsession!  It teaches so much more than fitness and is truly one of the most effective and adaptable health programs there is.  No matter what your physical condition, level of mobility, big, small, short and tall it is the best way to create the best you. It’s made me a better person and not only physically.  I look better, I feel better, I have more energy and more confidence.  Starting anything can new intimidating, but it’s become one of the greatest passions of my life.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

Any WOD with my buddies.  Just a few guys who love to be competitive and bring the best out in each other.  I love Overhead Squats and Snatches.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

It’s simple, to have every class be the best 60 minutes of their day.

I’m a software director during the day, weightlifting & CrossFit coach at night… a full time husband and dad to 3 future weightlifters.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

I still remember my very first CrossFit WOD – baseline. It was 500m row + 40 air squats + 30 sit-ups + 20 pushups and 10 pull-ups. I always considered myself in “good shape”, but on my 4th pull-up, reality caught up! CrossFit has really given me an avenue to pursue functional fitness. As a coach, i get to encourage and help people enjoy their fitness journey. 

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

Anything that involves a barbell, under 6mins and no burpees.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

To make each and every class be the best 1 hour of their day.

I’m a retired competitive runner and a lover of travel, our dogs, real estate & finding ways to sweat.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

CrossFit came into my life because of my husband. I was pushing back hard and didn’t want to join “the cult”. Once I caved, I never looked back. I think for most people it’s the best hour of the day, we time to do something for ourselves and our health. It keeps me coming back because of the constant variation, no chance of getting bored! Sharing the hard days, the fun days and the 90 degree super sweaty days with a tight knit group keeps people coming back.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

Love the long Chipper Type workouts- Murph being a favorite and I’m the sick person that likes thrusters in a WOD. Favorite lift is for sure squat cleans, no brainer!

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

I want every member to look forward to their 60 minutes inside our walls. This is their time and they are making a choice everyday to show up and spend it with us. I want to people to see the power in being able to do things they have never done before; whether it’s squatting below parallel or a muscle up.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

Well we’re do I start, I’ll start off by saying The only I might be more obsessed with then CrossFit it my dog Vedder! But CrossFit’s a close second I’m trying my best to be a full time coach and a competitive athlete, I bartend full time which I only do to afford my legitimate Rogue Fitness addition…

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

I’m the complete opposite of most CrossFit athletes /coaches I never played sports and never worked out growing up if anything I did everything I could to avoid those things, when I was 21 I found myself completely unhappy with myself and very overweight, I needed to make a lifestyle change and not just a diet or some crunches, I was looking to require my brain, my best friend at the time was interning at a Box and asked if I would come do a partner workout with him on a Saturday, I had no idea what a WOD was or why they kept saying “box” instead of gym, I hadn’t even done a burpee before, but after that workout I was hooked, it wasn’t just the way I felt it was the community and atmosphere, it was the coach coming up and fist pumping us, it was how many people asked me to keep coming it was how everyone already felt like my friend that’s what hooked me…and I think that’s the biggest thing CrossFit can bring to someone, a sense of purpose and community…

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

Oh that’s easy, favorite Wod is Amanda, I love snatching but I especially love Ring Muscle ups, they are without a doubt my favorite movement in CrossFit, I’m also a big fan of Triple 3, I don’t think there is a workout I repeat on the summer as much as a I do that one! As for lifts, snatching, I think the snatch is the most frustrating & yet rewarding pursuit I have ever had.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

My goal for lykos Personally is to just be as big of a part of the family as I can be, I have been on the sidelines for a few years watching from a far, just being a fan of the owners and the gym and the members, it’s been so cool to finally be a part of it, I want our members to

Walk in everyday and just feel like they are better then they were yesterday, that’s all I ever try to do myself and I’d like to help them as much as I can doing that..

He’s the reason I got into CrossFit and he’s the one I trust programing my own fitness journey! 

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

No doubt my hubs and fur babies are the center of my universe. Most people don’t know that I’m afraid of balloons and toasters. I tend to nickname people that I really like. My favorite things to do when coaching is to joke around and poke fun with my goofy PM CrossFit guys.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

I am a former dancer and dance teacher. In my 20’s I realized that I had a huge passion for fitness. I was always trying new things, searching for something physically diverse and challenging. I tried everything from Spin to Cardio Kickboxing, Hot Yoga to Zumba, but it was never enough. Then my husband introduced me to CrossFit. Like others walking in for the first time, I was unsure for a little while. What initially pulled me in were the people. The connections and the friendships that my husband and I gained were a huge perk. Once I learned that CrossFit is anything but mundane, and that lifting heavy stuff is crazy fun, I was hooked. CrossFit opened up a huge door to so many other things for me. From exploring CrossFit, to powerlifting, to Olympic weightlifting, to functional body building and sculpting, nutrition, and becoming a CrossFit L1 trainer. All of this is what continues to keep me well rounded in the fitness world. I’ve never seen a stronger community of passionate people in any other sport or fitness organization than I’ve seen in CrossFit. And all of the other things that make CrossFit extraordinarily exciting, like PR’s (wooooot!), local competitions, community fund raisers, friendships, CrossFit open, and the CrossFit games. CrossFit is a big part of our lives, and I cringe at the the thought of my husband and I still being confined to a boring local gym.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

If I could deadlift every single day, I would. Diane and Cindy.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

Not every single gym has the most supportive and welcoming environment like ours does. I value that and I hope we can always keep it this way.
What I want for our members are the things I see on a regular basis, which are the very reasons that make me love my job. Like seeing those who have struggled to lose weight for years previous to joining our box because they didn’t have the motivation, the confidence or the encouragement to push themselves further. Or seeing those who never thought they’d be able to pick up a weighted barbel without throwing their back out. The goal is to show people of all different ages, sizes, and physical abilities that CrossFit really can be for everyone, and that there is more to benefit from than just breaking a serious sweat.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

I’m a stay at home mom with two kids, two cats, four chickens, and a turtle. I love craziness, so another fur baby or future baby?? TBD.  I love being active and don’t like to sit still. Date nights with my husband, girls night out, traveling, sporting  events, are how I like to enjoy my free time. 

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

It has gotten me in the best shape of my life. I’m healthier and more active in my 30s than I was in my 20s. I think there is always something to improve on and personally, the competitive aspect (whether I’m working against my personal goals or with other athletes) keeps me addicted and looking for the next challenge.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

I love partner workouts and long Chippers. My favorite lift is the power clean.

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR LYKOS AND ITS MEMBERS?

My goal is getting members to attend class regularly and making it the best part of their day.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

My life revolves around working with kids – I’m an Early Childhood Special Education teacher and spent 10 years coaching competitive swimming.  I absolutely love sharing my passion for Crossfit and being active with the littlest members of our community.  In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, endurance training, music, sports, traveling, and being a homebody with my husband.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT EFFECTED YOUR LIFE AND WHY DO YOU THINK IT HAS SUCH A POWERFUL IMPACT ON OTHERS?

I originally started Crossfit to “temporarily” spice things up in my training …10 years later… Crossfit has changed my life forever.  The community and wonderful people I have met has made the biggest impact (not to mention my sweet husband who I met at Lykos!)  I think all of the positive, encouraging, and supportive people in our community has the most powerful impact at our box. Crossfit helps build confidence, promotes a healthy body and mind, and allows us to be proud role models for our little ones!

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE WOD’S AND LIFTS?

I love anything LONG! – really LONG! I love special workouts that bring our community together around one challenge – it always brings the best out of everyone. I also love chippers, wall balls, and cleans!!
